Robert D. Isom serves as Chief Executive Officer, President, and Director of American Airlines Group Inc., the parent company of the world's largest airline by passengers carried. With more than 35 years in the aviation industry, Isom has held pivotal roles in finance, operations, and strategic growth. A graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, he earned an MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His career began at Northwest Airlines, where he advanced through leadership positions in finance, network planning, and revenue management, culminating as Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue Management. In 2006, Isom joined American Airlines as Executive Vice President of Finance and Planning. Following the 2013 merger with US Airways, he became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, guiding the integration of the two carriers, optimizing the route network, and restoring financial stability post-merger. His tenure as CFO included navigating economic challenges, securing investments in fleet renewal, and enhancing profitability through innovative revenue strategies. Isom was named President in 2020, overseeing commercial, operations, and technology divisions, before ascending to CEO on January 1, 2022. Under his leadership, American Airlines has accelerated recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, invested over $1 billion in customer experience upgrades, modernized its fleet with fuel-efficient aircraft, and advanced sustainability goals, including a commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050. Isom's focus on employee engagement and operational excellence has positioned the company for long-term success in a competitive global market.
