Prior to joining Advance Auto Parts, Vining was Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Dollar General Corporation from 2019 to 2025, overseeing a global legal team of over 100 professionals. During his tenure, he successfully guided the company through rapid expansion, including multiple acquisitions totaling over $2 billion, while strengthening compliance programs that reduced litigation risks and earned industry recognition for corporate governance excellence. Earlier, he held progressive leadership roles at Macy's, Inc., including Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, where he managed complex retail litigation, labor relations, and data privacy initiatives amid digital transformation efforts. In his new role at Advance Auto Parts, Vining leads the legal department, advises the executive team and Board of Directors on strategic initiatives, and ensures robust corporate secretarial functions.
