Ryan Melsert serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of American Battery Technology Company (ABTC), a pioneering firm in lithium-ion battery recycling and critical battery metal production. A chemical engineer with a BS and MS from the University of California, Davis, Melsert brings over 20 years of expertise in advanced manufacturing and process engineering. His early career included roles at Intel Corporation, where he optimized semiconductor fabrication, followed by key positions at Tesla, Inc., as Director of Module and Pack Manufacturing at Gigafactory Nevada, contributing to the scaling of high-volume lithium-ion battery production. Under Melsert's leadership since co-founding ABTC in 2011, the company has developed a proprietary, zero-waste hydrometallurgical process for recovering high-purity lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese from spent batteries, achieving up to 95% recovery rates. He spearheaded ABTC's landmark 2021 public listing via SPAC merger on Nasdaq (PERM), marking the first U.S.-listed pure-play battery recycling company. His strategic efforts have secured multimillion-dollar grants from the U.S. Department of Energy and Department of Defense, as well as commercial offtake agreements with industry leaders. As CEO, Melsert drives ABTC's vertical integration strategy, including the development of a domestic lithium hydroxide refinery from Nevada claystone resources, positioning the company to supply the growing electric vehicle and energy storage markets. His visionary approach has positioned ABTC as a cornerstone of U.S. energy independence, earning industry accolades for sustainable innovation.
