David M. Goldstein, Ph.D., is an accomplished medicinal chemist and drug discovery leader with more than 25 years of experience advancing small-molecule therapeutics for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. He previously held senior scientific roles at Genentech and Rigel Pharmaceuticals, where he directed chemistry efforts that delivered multiple clinical-stage kinase inhibitors, including contributions to the discovery and optimization of programs targeting JAK and SYK pathways. His work has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed publications, issued patents, and successful transitions of compounds from early discovery into late-stage clinical development. As Chief Scientific Officer at Alumis Inc., Dr. Goldstein leads the company’s research organization and overall R&D strategy, overseeing the design and advancement of precision immunology candidates aimed at delivering differentiated therapies for patients with serious immune-mediated conditions. He guides target selection, medicinal chemistry optimization, and translational science initiatives that integrate biomarker-driven approaches to accelerate clinical proof-of-concept. Under his leadership, Alumis has expanded its pipeline of highly selective molecules intended to improve efficacy and safety profiles over existing standards of care.
