Biography sourced from the proxy statement filing.
Joshua Cohen co-founded Amylyx in 2013 and has served as our Co-Chief Executive Officer and a member of our board of directors since January 2014. Alongside our Co-Chief Executive Officer Justin Klee, Mr. Cohen leads our scientific, operational, and strategic direction. He works closely with community members, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers to ensure their perspectives inform our programs in endocrine conditions and neurodegenerative diseases, including post-bariatric hypoglycemia ( PBH ), congenital hyperinsulinism ( HI ), Wolfram syndrome, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ( ALS ). Together with our Co-Chief Executive Officer Justin Klee, Mr. Cohen focuses on building the systems, teams, and resources needed to advance mechanism-driven research from preclinical and early-stage clinical program development, through later-stage development and potential commercialization. He has helped to build a team and operating model with proven capabilities to translate scientific insights into therapies through global regulatory approval, commercialization, and patient access, supported by a successful initial public offering ( IPO ) and approximately $1 billion in financing. Mr. Cohen was named to Business Insider s 30 Under 40 List in Healthcare in 2020. Mr. Cohen earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from Brown University, where he was a National Merit Scholar. While at Brown, he founded the Brown Biotechnology Investment Group and conducted research published by the National Institutes of Standards and Technology and in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences . We believe that Mr. Cohen is qualified to serve on our board of directors because of his familiarity with and experience building our company as its Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, as well as his knowledge and familiarity with corporate management, clinical trials, neurodegenerative disease research and drug development.
