Joshua Cohen serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer and Director at Amylyx Pharmaceuticals Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel treatments for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neurodegenerative diseases. A Duke University alumnus, Cohen began his career in investment banking at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he advised on mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets transactions in the healthcare sector. He later pursued an MBA at Harvard Business School, during which he co-founded Amylyx in 2013 with classmate Justin Klee, driven by a passion to address unmet needs in ALS therapy. Under Cohen's leadership, Amylyx has achieved transformative milestones, including the U.S. FDA approval of RELYVRIO™ (sodium phenylbutyrate/taurursodiol) in September 2022—the first new ALS treatment approved in five years—following positive results from the CENTAUR trial. The company successfully completed its initial public offering on NASDAQ in January 2021, raising over $400 million to fuel pipeline advancement. Cohen's strategic acumen has also secured key partnerships, expanded global clinical trials, and positioned Amylyx for commercial launch and further innovation.
