Stephen G. Dilly, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., is the Executive Chair of the Board of Directors at Codexis, Inc., a leading enzyme engineering company focused on developing high-performance enzymes for therapeutics, biomanufacturing, and diagnostics. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Codexis from January 2019 to October 2023, during which he spearheaded the company's strategic evolution toward precision therapeutics, including the advancement of its ECO Synthesis™ platform and the pipeline candidate CDX-527 for primary hyperoxaluria type 1. Under his leadership, Codexis expanded its CodeEvolver® technology applications, forged key partnerships, and positioned the company for growth in the burgeoning gene therapy and RNA manufacturing sectors. Dr. Dilly's distinguished career spans over 30 years in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, marked by transformative leadership in drug development and commercialization. Prior to Codexis, he was Chief Executive Officer of SomLogic, Inc., where he drove the company's aptamer-based proteomics platform toward clinical and commercial milestones. Earlier, as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Cubist Pharmaceuticals, he played a pivotal role in the successful development and FDA approval of Cubicin (daptomycin), the first antibiotic in a new class in nearly 30 years, contributing to its blockbuster status with over $1 billion in annual sales. His tenure at Cubist also included oversight of global operations and business development. A graduate of The London Hospital Medical College with an M.B.B.S. and a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of London, Dr. Dilly has held senior roles at Bayer, Aventis, and IDEXX Laboratories, amassing expertise in R&D, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and corporate strategy. His achievements include numerous peer-reviewed publications, patents, and board positions at innovative biotech firms, underscoring his commitment to advancing enzymatic solutions for complex biological challenges.
