Jamal H. Haughton is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Charter Communications, Inc., the nation's leading broadband connectivity company and cable operator serving more than 32 million customers across 41 states. In this critical role, he leads a global team of legal professionals responsible for all aspects of the company's legal strategy, including regulatory compliance, litigation management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, intellectual property, and risk mitigation. Haughton plays a pivotal part in guiding Charter through complex regulatory environments, such as FCC proceedings and antitrust matters, while supporting the company's aggressive expansion in broadband and video services. Haughton joined Charter in 2018 as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, rapidly ascending to his current position due to his strategic acumen and deep expertise in telecommunications law. Prior to Charter, he was a partner in the Corporate Department at O'Melveny & Myers LLP, where he advised major clients on high-stakes M&A transactions, public offerings, and private equity deals totaling billions of dollars. Earlier in his career, Haughton served as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, honing his skills in capital markets and corporate finance. A Harvard Law School graduate and former editor of the Harvard Law Review, Haughton has earned widespread recognition for his leadership, including Chambers USA rankings as a leading lawyer in corporate/M&A and selections to The Legal 500. He is a champion for diversity in the legal profession, serving on the boards of the Legal Aid Society and the Harlem YMCA, and mentoring underrepresented talent in law and business.
