Douglas Kerr, MD, PhD, serves as Chief Medical Officer at Dyne Therapeutics Inc., a clinical-stage muscle disease company developing novel therapeutics for genetically driven muscle diseases. Dr. Kerr's notable achievements include his leadership at Biogen, where he served as Vice President and Head of Neurodegeneration from 2014 to 2021, overseeing the successful clinical development and global regulatory approval of Spinraza (nusinersen), the first disease-modifying therapy for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Prior roles at Novartis and Reata Pharmaceuticals honed his skills in advancing oligonucleotide and small molecule therapies for ALS, Friedreich's ataxia, and other neuromuscular conditions, resulting in multiple investigational new drug applications and Phase 3 trials. His work has yielded over 100 peer-reviewed publications and patents in neurodegenerative diseases. At Dyne Therapeutics, Dr. Kerr leads the clinical development organization, directing the advancement of the company's FORCE platform-based candidates, including DYNE-101 for myotonic dystrophy type 1 and DYNE-251 for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Under his guidance, Dyne has progressed multiple programs into clinical stages, leveraging his strategic insight to accelerate innovative treatments toward patients with unmet needs in muscle diseases.
