John J. Kelley III is a distinguished corporate legal executive with more than 30 years of experience advising Fortune 500 companies on governance, compliance, litigation, and strategic transactions. He began his career at the international law firm King & Spalding LLP, where he advanced to partner, representing clients in high-stakes mergers, acquisitions, and regulatory matters. Kelley later held senior legal roles at The Home Depot Inc., serving as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary from 2011 to 2015, followed by Senior Vice President and General Counsel at The Coca-Cola Company from 2015 to 2017, where he oversaw global legal operations and risk management for one of the world's largest consumer goods companies. In October 2017, Kelley joined Equifax Inc. as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, a position he held until his retirement in early 2023. During his tenure, he led a team of over 200 legal professionals across the globe, steering the company through its most significant challenges, including the resolution of the 2017 data breach with multi-billion-dollar regulatory settlements, class actions, and remediation efforts. Kelley's leadership was pivotal in enhancing Equifax's compliance framework, privacy protections, and cybersecurity posture, while supporting key business initiatives such as cloud migrations, international expansions, and talent acquisitions. Under Kelley's guidance, Equifax strengthened its corporate governance and rebuilt stakeholder confidence, earning accolades for transparency and resilience. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.A.) and the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D.), he is recognized for his principled, collaborative style and deep expertise in data privacy and consumer finance regulations.
