Philippe Piron is the CEO of Electrification at GE Vernova Inc., where he leads a global business unit focused on accelerating the electrification of energy systems to support the transition to a sustainable, net-zero future. With more than 25 years of leadership in the energy and power sectors, Piron brings deep expertise in grid modernization, renewable integration, and digital transformation. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure d'Électricité et de Mécanique Électrotechnique de Nancy (ENSEM) in France, he has built a career at the intersection of engineering innovation and strategic business growth. Piron spent over two decades at Schneider Electric, advancing from engineering roles to Executive Vice President of the Energy Management Division, where he drove multimillion-dollar initiatives in power distribution, automation, and low-voltage solutions. His tenure there resulted in enhanced grid resilience, expanded market share in emerging regions, and pioneering smart grid technologies that integrated renewables effectively. In 2018, he joined GE as CEO of Grid Solutions within GE Renewable Energy, overseeing high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, substations, and digital grid platforms, which solidified GE's position as a leader in flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) and global grid projects. At GE Vernova, Piron directs a portfolio spanning grid automation, power conversion, breakers, and e-mobility solutions, emphasizing scalable electrification to meet rising demand for reliable, efficient power. His leadership has accelerated product innovations like advanced software for grid optimization and modular substations, contributing to GE Vernova's goals of delivering $10 billion in annual electrification revenue while reducing customer carbon footprints through cutting-edge, digitally enabled technologies.
