Thomas Kim is the Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Secretary at Gartner, Inc., the world's leading research and advisory firm. In this capacity, he leads the global legal team, overseeing all aspects of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property protection, litigation, and enterprise risk management. Kim plays a pivotal role in supporting Gartner's strategic growth initiatives, ensuring ethical operations across its international footprint while navigating complex regulatory environments in technology and data services. Prior to joining Gartner in April 2021, Kim amassed over two decades of senior legal experience in media and entertainment. At ViacomCBS (now Paramount Global), he served as Executive Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer from 2014 to 2021, where he managed legal affairs for a portfolio spanning CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Paramount Pictures. This included guiding high-stakes transactions like the Viacom-CBS merger and implementing robust compliance programs amid evolving media regulations. Earlier in his career, Kim spent 16 years at Time Inc. and Time Warner (now Warner Bros. Discovery), rising to Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Corporate Development. There, he spearheaded legal support for transformative deals, such as the Time Warner-Time Warner Cable merger and the acquisition of Turner Broadcasting System. A graduate of Harvard Law School (J.D., 1998) and the University of Pennsylvania (B.A., 1995), Kim is renowned for his strategic foresight, crisis management expertise, and dedication to fostering a culture of integrity and innovation.
