David W. McCreight serves as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of CarMax, Inc., a role he assumed in February 2024 following his long tenure as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Joining CarMax in 2003 as Vice President of Business Development, McCreight rapidly ascended through critical leadership positions, including Senior Vice President of Merchandising Services from 2006 to 2009 and Senior Vice President of Store Operations Planning and Support from 2009 to 2010. His deep institutional knowledge and strategic acumen have been pivotal in steering the nation's largest retailer of used vehicles through periods of expansion and market volatility. As CFO since March 2010, McCreight oversaw all aspects of financial operations, including planning, treasury, tax, investor relations, internal audit, and risk management. Under his guidance, CarMax expanded its footprint with new retail locations, invested in digital platforms like omnichannel sales and instant online appraisals, and navigated economic challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain disruptions. His leadership contributed to sustained revenue growth, with CarMax achieving record sales volumes and maintaining strong financial health amid a competitive used-car landscape. Prior to CarMax, McCreight held senior finance roles at Circuit City Stores, Inc., from 1998 to 2003, including Vice President of Finance and Treasurer, and began his career at Coopers & Lybrand. In his current interim capacity, McCreight is focused on accelerating operational efficiencies, enhancing customer experiences through technology, and executing long-term strategies to solidify CarMax's market leadership.
