Following the acquisition, Dr. Nabel also served as Chief Medical Officer for OPKO Health until August 2023. She now serves as a consultant to OPKO Health and ModeX Therapeutics. Earlier in her career, Dr. Nabel held a variety of roles, including Director, at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health, a federal agency funding research, training and education programs to promote the prevention and treatment of heart, lung and blood diseases, from 1999 to 2009. She is an elected member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
