Richard W. Roda serves as Vice President, Secretary, and Chief Legal Officer at MSA Safety Incorporated, a global leader in advanced safety products, technologies, and services that protect people and facility infrastructures. In this multifaceted role, he leads the company's legal department, overseeing corporate governance, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property protection, commercial contracts, and litigation strategy. As Corporate Secretary, Roda also manages board of directors and shareholder relations, ensuring alignment with best practices in corporate stewardship and risk management. His strategic guidance has been instrumental in supporting MSA's growth initiatives and maintaining its strong reputation for ethical operations in the safety industry. Prior to joining MSA in 2014 as Associate General Counsel, Roda was a partner in the Cleveland office of Jones Day, an internationally renowned law firm, where he specialized in complex commercial litigation, securities litigation, shareholder disputes, and corporate governance counseling. He represented Fortune 500 companies and financial institutions in high-stakes matters across federal and state courts, earning recognition for his adept handling of bet-the-company cases. Earlier, Roda served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lesley Wells of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and began his legal career at Squire Sanders (now Squire Patton Boggs). Roda holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and editor-in-chief of the Law Review, and a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Washington & Jefferson College. Under his leadership, MSA has successfully navigated evolving regulatory landscapes, executed key acquisitions such as the 2021 purchase of Bacharach, Inc., and bolstered its compliance framework, contributing to the company's sustained financial performance and market leadership.
