Christopher D. Turner, M.D., is a seasoned oncologist and pharmaceutical executive serving as Chief Medical Officer at Nuvalent Inc. (NASDAQ: NUVL), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on precision oncology therapies targeting ROS1, ALK, and other oncogenic drivers in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and beyond. With over 25 years of experience in oncology drug development, Dr. Turner brings deep expertise in leading global clinical programs from early-phase trials to regulatory approval. He earned his M.D. from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Utah Health, and pursued fellowship training in hematology/oncology at the University of Colorado Cancer Center, where he also served on faculty. Prior to joining Nuvalent in 2020, Dr. Turner held senior leadership roles at Novartis Oncology, including Global Clinical Development Team Leader for Zykadia® (alectinib), an ALK inhibitor approved for ROS1-positive and ALK-positive NSCLC, and contributions to other approved therapies such as Kisqali® (ribociclib) and Piqray® (alpelisib). Earlier in his career at Pfizer Oncology, he advanced multiple investigational agents in lung cancer and solid tumors as Medical Director. Board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology, Dr. Turner has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at major oncology congresses, earning recognition for accelerating innovative therapies to patients. At Nuvalent, Dr. Turner oversees the end-to-end clinical development strategy for the company's pipeline, including lead candidates NVL-655 (a next-generation ROS1/ALK inhibitor) and NVL-655 in TRK fusion-positive cancers. Under his leadership, Nuvalent has advanced multiple programs into late-stage trials, positioning the company to address unmet needs in genetically defined cancers with brain-penetrant, mutation-agnostic therapies designed to overcome clinical resistance.
