Nicholas Leupin, MD, PhD, is a distinguished oncologist and pharmaceutical executive with more than 25 years of experience in clinical medicine, drug development, and medical affairs. He received his medical degree and doctorate from the University of Basel, Switzerland, followed by residency training in internal medicine and fellowships in hematology and medical oncology at the University Hospital Zurich. Early in his career, Dr. Leupin held academic positions at leading Swiss institutions, where he focused on immuno-oncology and published extensively in high-impact journals. He later transitioned to industry, serving in senior roles at Roche and Celgene, including Head of Medical Oncology and Hematology in Switzerland, where he spearheaded clinical development programs for novel targeted therapies and immunotherapies. In 2018, Dr. Leupin joined NovoCure Ltd. as Chief Medical Officer, bringing his deep expertise in oncology to advance the company's pioneering Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) platform. As CMO, he led global clinical development strategies, oversaw key pivotal trials such as the PANOVA series for pancreatic cancer and EF-33 for mesothelioma, and contributed to regulatory submissions that expanded Optune and NovoTTFields approvals across multiple indications.
