David J. Bonenberger serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer – Utilities at PPL Corporation, overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the company’s regulated utility subsidiaries, including PPL Electric Utilities in Pennsylvania, Louisville Gas and Electric Company, and Kentucky Utilities Company in Kentucky. With more than 30 years of experience in the energy industry, Bonenberger brings deep expertise in electric and gas transmission, distribution, and customer service, driving PPL’s commitment to operational excellence, grid modernization, and customer satisfaction for millions across its service territories. Prior to joining PPL in 2021, Bonenberger held senior leadership roles at Pepco Holdings, Inc. (now part of Exelon), culminating in his position as Senior Vice President of Operations. There, he led teams responsible for delivering electricity and natural gas to over 2 million customers in the Mid-Atlantic region, achieving notable improvements in system reliability, safety performance, and regulatory compliance. His tenure included spearheading major infrastructure investments and storm response efforts, earning recognition for enhancing outage management and resilience. At PPL, Bonenberger has championed initiatives to advance clean energy integration, cybersecurity, and workforce development, positioning the utilities for long-term sustainability amid evolving regulatory and environmental demands.
