Joseph J. LaRosa serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leading biotechnology company renowned for its innovative therapies in eye diseases, allergic and inflammatory conditions, cancer, and rare diseases. He joined Regeneron in 2015 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary, advancing to his current executive role in recognition of his strategic leadership. In this capacity, LaRosa oversees all legal affairs, including intellectual property protection, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and global litigation, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding the company's groundbreaking pipeline, such as EYLEA, Dupixent, and Libtayo. Prior to Regeneron, LaRosa held senior legal positions at major pharmaceutical firms. From 2009 to 2015, he was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Sanofi, where he managed complex cross-border transactions, antitrust matters, and product liability issues during a period of significant industry consolidation. Before that, he spent six years at Wyeth (acquired by Pfizer) as Vice President and Associate General Counsel, focusing on M&A and securities law. Earlier in his career, LaRosa was a partner in the corporate department at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, advising on public offerings, private equity deals, and biotech financings. He holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a B.A. from Boston College. Under LaRosa's guidance, Regeneron has navigated high-stakes challenges, including successful defense of key patents, strategic collaborations like the Sanofi alliance, and rapid development of COVID-19 antibody therapies during the pandemic. His expertise has been instrumental in Regeneron's growth into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise, earning him recognition as a top in-house counsel by Chambers USA and The Legal 500. LaRosa's proactive approach to legal risk management continues to support Regeneron's mission to discover and develop life-transforming medicines.
