William W. Sheehan II is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ross Stores, Inc., a Fortune 500 off-price apparel and home fashion retailer. With more than 30 years of finance and accounting expertise, Sheehan joined Ross in 2000 as Vice President of Planning and Analysis, following roles at Montgomery Securities, where he served as Director of Finance, and Price Waterhouse (now PwC), where he advanced to Senior Manager in audit and advisory services. His early career equipped him with deep skills in financial modeling, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance. Rising rapidly through the ranks at Ross, Sheehan was promoted to Senior Vice President of Finance in 2005 and Executive Vice President of Finance in 2010, before assuming the CFO role in February 2016. During his tenure, he has overseen significant company expansion, including the growth of Ross's store base from approximately 1,300 to over 2,000 locations, navigated economic volatility such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and driven robust financial performance with consistent revenue growth and strong free cash flow generation. As CFO, Sheehan manages all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, investor relations, financial planning and analysis, and risk management. His strategic leadership has been pivotal in maintaining Ross's competitive edge in the off-price retail sector, delivering superior shareholder returns, and supporting initiatives like share repurchases and dividend increases, underscoring his role in the company's long-term value creation.
