John T. Burns serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of SELLAS Life Sciences Group, Inc., a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company developing novel cancer immunotherapies. Appointed in September 2020, he leads all financial functions, including strategic planning, capital markets activities, investor relations, SEC reporting, and risk management. Under his stewardship, SELLAS has successfully executed multiple equity financings, advanced its lead galinpepimut-S (GPS) program through pivotal trials, and maintained financial discipline amid the challenges of clinical-stage biotech operations. With more than 25 years of experience in life sciences finance, Mr. Burns has a proven track record of guiding companies through growth, commercialization, and transformative events. Prior to SELLAS, he was CFO at Windtree Therapeutics, Inc. (formerly Discovery Laboratories), from 2017 to 2020, where he oversaw financial operations during late-stage drug development and partnerships. Before that, he served as Senior Vice President and CFO at ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc., from 2014 to 2017, playing a key role in the commercial launch of the oncology drug Iclusig and the company's $5.2 billion acquisition by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company. Earlier roles include Vice President of Finance at ARIAD and various senior finance positions at Genzyme Corporation (now part of Sanofi), where he managed budgeting, forecasting, and M&A activities. Mr. Burns holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Villanova University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
