David P. Poroch serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Southern Company, a leading energy holding company that owns electric utilities across the Southeast and is one of the largest producers of clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy in the U.S. In this role, he oversees the company's financial operations, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, investor relations, corporate development, and risk management. Poroch plays a pivotal role in strategic initiatives, such as securing financing for major capital projects like the completion of the Vogtle Units 3 and 4 nuclear expansion, the largest generating plant construction project in the U.S. Poroch joined Southern Company in 2001 as Vice President and Treasurer after serving as Assistant Treasurer at Georgia Power Company. Prior to that, he spent nine years at Deloitte & Touche, where he advanced to audit manager, gaining deep expertise in financial auditing and advisory services for energy and utility clients. Under his leadership, Southern Company has maintained strong investment-grade credit ratings, navigated complex regulatory environments, and executed significant debt issuances and equity offerings to fund growth and transition to cleaner energy sources. A native of Georgia, Poroch holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University. His contributions have been recognized with awards such as being named one of the "Most Influential Leaders in Finance" by Atlanta Business Chronicle, and he actively serves on boards including the United Way of Greater Atlanta and the Financial Executives International Atlanta Chapter.
