J. Jeff Peoples serves as Chairman, President, and CEO of Alabama Power Company, a subsidiary of Southern Company that provides reliable electricity to more than 1.5 million customers across Alabama. With over 40 years of dedicated service, Peoples joined Alabama Power in 1983 as an engineer in the generation organization. He progressed through key leadership roles, including superintendent of Plant Barry, director of fleet performance, and vice president of fossil and hydro operations in 2012, gaining deep expertise in power plant management, engineering, and energy production. In 2018, Peoples was elected president, and in 2022, he assumed the roles of chairman and CEO, guiding the company through significant transformations. Under his leadership, Alabama Power has invested billions in grid modernization, renewable energy projects, and advanced nuclear technologies, achieving top rankings in reliability from J.D. Power and numerous safety awards. His strategic vision has balanced affordability, environmental stewardship, and economic growth, including initiatives that support Alabama's industries and communities. Peoples is a respected industry leader, serving on the boards of the Edison Electric Institute, the Electric Power Research Institute, and the Business Council of Alabama.
