Russell K. Grissett is a distinguished leader in the global packaging industry with more than 35 years of progressive experience. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University and an MBA from the University of South Carolina, laying a strong foundation for his career. Grissett began at Graphic Packaging International, where he advanced from engineering roles to senior leadership positions, including Director of Manufacturing and Vice President of Flexible Packaging Operations, honing his expertise in process optimization, supply chain management, and innovation. In 2014, Grissett joined Sonoco Products Company as President of Global Flexibles, a critical division focused on flexible packaging solutions for food, consumer goods, and healthcare markets. Under his stewardship, the division expanded its international footprint through strategic acquisitions and partnerships, achieving double-digit annual growth in revenue and market share. He championed sustainability initiatives, including the development of recyclable mono-material films and reduced-plastic structures, which earned Sonoco multiple industry awards and positioned Global Flexibles as a leader in eco-friendly innovation. Grissett retired from his role as President in 2022 after driving the division to record profitability and operational excellence. His tenure not only strengthened Sonoco’s competitive edge but also set a benchmark for agile leadership in a rapidly evolving sector, and he remains active as an advisor to packaging startups and industry associations.
