R. Keith Woods serves as Chief Operating Officer at Scholar Rock Holding Corporation, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company pioneering new treatments for neuromuscular diseases through innovative protein growth factor modulation. With over 25 years of experience in biopharmaceutical operations, manufacturing, and supply chain management, Woods has established himself as a leader in advancing complex biologics and gene therapies from development to commercialization. His career began at Bayer Corporation, where he honed his expertise in process development and quality assurance for biologics, before progressing through increasingly senior roles at industry-leading firms. Prior to joining Scholar Rock in 2021, Woods held pivotal positions at Genzyme (now part of Sanofi), rising to Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain, where he oversaw global production of enzyme replacement therapies and led the expansion of manufacturing facilities to support rare disease treatments. At bluebird bio, as Chief Technical Operations Officer, he directed the end-to-end supply chain for gene therapies, achieving key regulatory milestones, including FDA approvals, and scaling operations to meet clinical and commercial demands. His achievements include successfully navigating complex CMC strategies, optimizing supply chains for orphan drugs, and ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory standards across multiple therapeutic modalities. At Scholar Rock, Woods drives operational excellence for the company's lead candidate, apitegromab, a monoclonal antibody in late-stage development for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). He leads cross-functional teams in technical development, manufacturing, and commercialization readiness, positioning the company for potential BLA submission and market launch. Under his stewardship, Scholar Rock has advanced its pipeline while building robust infrastructure to support growth in neuromuscular therapeutics.
