With more than 25 years of experience in corporate, real estate, and transactional law, Houston oversees all legal matters for the company, including risk management, compliance, corporate governance, litigation strategy, and major contracts. His strategic leadership has been pivotal in advancing Tejon Ranch's ambitious master-planned communities, commercial centers, and renewable energy projects amid complex regulatory environments. Prior to joining Tejon Ranch in 2015, Houston was Senior Vice President and General Counsel at A.G. Spanos Companies, one of the largest privately held multifamily developers in the United States, where he directed legal operations, acquisitions, and development initiatives across multiple states. Earlier in his career, he practiced at the prestigious law firm Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP in Los Angeles, focusing on real estate finance, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. Houston holds a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Under Houston's guidance, Tejon Ranch has achieved significant milestones, including securing key entitlements for the 1,600-acre Tejon Ranch Commerce Center—the nation's largest industrial planned development—and advancing the 12,000-home Centennial community. His expertise in navigating environmental regulations, public-private partnerships, and financing has minimized risks while fostering sustainable growth, solidifying Tejon Ranch's position as a leader in responsible land development and contributing to enhanced shareholder value.
