Michael Hall serves as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for TrustCo Bank Corp and its primary subsidiary, Trustco Bank, roles he has held since joining the organization in 2005. With over 25 years of experience in banking law and corporate governance, Hall earned his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School after completing his undergraduate studies at the University at Albany, SUNY. Prior to TrustCo, he practiced as a corporate attorney at a prominent Upstate New York law firm, where he specialized in regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and financial services litigation, representing regional banks and financial institutions. Throughout his tenure at TrustCo, Hall has been instrumental in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, including the Dodd-Frank Act reforms and heightened cybersecurity mandates from federal agencies. His leadership ensured seamless compliance during the bank's expansion into new markets and the successful integration of digital banking initiatives, earning him recognition from the New York Bankers Association for excellence in legal advisory services. Hall has also played a key role in corporate governance, advising the Board of Directors on shareholder relations and risk management strategies that have bolstered TrustCo's reputation as a stable, community-focused institution. In his current capacities, Hall oversees a team of legal professionals handling contracts, litigation, intellectual property, and SEC reporting, while serving as the primary liaison with external counsel and regulators. His strategic foresight has contributed to TrustCo's consistent financial performance and low legal risk profile, positioning the company for sustained growth in a competitive banking environment.
