He holds a BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and an MBA from the University of Cape Town, and his career has taken him across North America, South America, Africa, and Australia. Before joining Energy Fuels in June 2021, Bhappu was President and CEO of Atrum Coal Limited, where he advanced the flagship Elan Coal Project in British Columbia toward production and secured strategic partnerships. His prior roles include CEO of Reunion Gold Corporation, Managing Director of Kepler Resources Limited, and senior positions at African Eagle Resources and Aquila Resources. Bhappu's track record includes raising over $200 million in capital, leading exploration-to-production transitions, and delivering shareholder value in volatile markets. Under Bhappu's leadership at Energy Fuels, the company has restarted uranium production at the White Mesa Mill—the only conventional uranium mill in the U.S.—ramped up vanadium output, and pioneered rare earth carbonate production from monazite. He has positioned Energy Fuels as a critical supplier for clean energy technologies, expanded its mineral sands separation capabilities, and driven strategic growth amid rising global demand for nuclear fuels and critical minerals.
