Jason K. Johnson serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Community Health Systems, Inc. (CHS), one of the largest publicly traded hospital operators in the United States, managing over 70 hospitals and more than 1,000 outpatient facilities. Appointed to this role in February 2021, Johnson oversees all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, risk management, and investor relations. He joined CHS in 2006 as Vice President of Internal Audit, advancing through key positions such as Senior Vice President of Finance, bringing deep expertise in healthcare finance to support the company’s strategic initiatives amid evolving industry dynamics. Prior to CHS, Johnson spent 12 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), culminating in his role as a partner in the firm’s national healthcare audit practice, where he advised major healthcare clients on complex financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance. A Certified Public Accountant, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His extensive background in auditing and healthcare economics has equipped him to address CHS’s financial complexities effectively. Under Johnson’s leadership, CHS has executed significant debt reduction, asset divestitures, and operational optimizations, enhancing liquidity and positioning the company for long-term growth. His contributions have been pivotal in navigating economic pressures, including the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining strong governance and stakeholder trust in the competitive healthcare sector.
